- 1. Adoption of Minutes of December Monthly Meeting of Kilrush Town Council held on the 14th December 2006 at 4.00 p.m.
Cllr. McMahon-Jones referred to Item No. 13 from the December 2006 minutes. She queried if the letter to Comhaltas regarding public access to the graveyard had issued. The town clerk confirmed that this letter had not yet issued, but things have progressed in the meantime. It was confirmed that the public will be facilitated with direct access to the graveyard. A turnstile will be provided directly opposite Crawford Street. It was agreed that a letter should issue to Comhaltas thanking them for facilitating public access to the cemetery.
With regard to Item No.16 from the December 2006 minutes, clarification was sought as to the exact location of the extra life buoys at 'The Rock'. It was agreed that the most dangerous area is to the right of 'The Rock' outside Dr. Ryans (known as Wolf's Rock). It was confirmed that this matter has also been raised at county level and it was agreed that pictorial signs will be erected outside Dr. Ryans confirming that swimming is prohibited. The members felt that their colleagues in Clare County Council should be thanked for their assistance and support.

- 2. Adoption of Minutes of Budget Meeting held on the 14th December 2006 at 3.30 p.m.

The Minutes of the Budget meeting were duly adopted.
- 3. Rental Accommodation Scheme.
Ar Moladh Cllr. Prendeville cuidithe ag Cllr. McMahon-Jones :-
The following Resolution was duly adopted :
"That this Council agrees to enter into an agreement with the County Council pursuant to section 85 of the Local Government Act, 2001 for the acceptance of services from the County Council in relation to the Rental Accommodation Scheme and the implementation/ enforcement of the regulations under the Housing Acts in relation to all private rented accommodation."

"That this Council would ask An Taoiseach to declare a National Remembrance Day in this the 160th anniversary of the Great Famine of 1847.”

"That this Council would commence a review of the council's current Casual Trading Bye-Laws."
- 6. Ar Moladh Cllr. Prendeville cuidithe ag Cllr. O'Malley :-
"That this Council would consider initiatives aimed at perpetuating the memory of our esteemed council colleague, the late George Harratte."
- 7. Ar Moladh Cllr. Sweeney :-
"That this Council would ask the Town Engineer to have another look at reconfiguring the roundabout at Lower Frances Street as it is causing considerable confusion there among motorists and pedestrians which could result in accidents."
- 8. Ar Moladh Cllr. Sweeney cuidithe ag Cllr. O'Looney :-
"That this Council would consider the installation of pedestrian crossings at Chapel Drive, Griffin Road, Lower Frances Street and Market Square."
- 9. Ar Moladh Cllr. Sweeney:-
"That this Council ask the Town Engineer to report to the members on the results of the public lighting survey requested by this council in November 2006 and his recommendations and timescale for the upgrading of existing public lighting throughout the town."
- 20. Correspondence
Letter dated 8th December 2006 from Letterkenny Town Council re the engaging of outside contractors and any other external personnel.
- 'Thank You' Card from the family of the late Tim Kennelly.
- The members were informed that the 25th Anniversary of the twinning between Kilrush and Plouzane will be marked by the coming to Kilrush of their representatives from the 12th to 19th July 2007.
It was agreed that the 'Spirit of Kilrush' Civic Reception will be held on Friday 16th February 2007 at 6.00 p.m.
Votes Of Sympathy
It was agreed that a vote of sympathy should issue to the following :-
- John Mulqueen, Molougha, Kilrush on the death of his uncle Mattie Mulqueen late of Malthouse Lane, Kilrush.
- Mr. Stevie O'Brien, Carnanes, Kilrush on the death of his wife Mrs. Eileen O'Brien.
- Sr. Noreen Killeen, Convent of Mercy, Fahy's Road, Kilrush on the death of her mother Mrs. Christina Killeen, Leitrim, Cree P.O., Kilrush.
- Mr. Tony Cusack, Kilmacduane, Cooraclare, Kilrush on the death of his wife Mrs. Ann Cusack.
The meeting then concluded.
