Minutes of September Monthly Meeting of Kilrush Town Council Held on the14th September at 4:00 p.m. in the Town Hall, Kilrush
In Attendance :
- Cllr. Stephen O’Gorman, Méara.
- Comhairleoirí Bhaile: Cllr. Colie Sweeney, Cllr. O’Looney, Cllr. Christy O’Malley, Cllr. Prendeville, Cllr. Culligan, Cllr. McMahon-Jones, Cllr. Fennell.
Apologies: Cllr. Tom Clyne
Present:
- Ms. Fiona Mooney, Town Clerk.
- Mr. Stephen Lahiffe, Town Engineer.
Cllr. Prendeville proposed and Cllr. Sweeney seconded a proposal to suspend standing orders to consider a motion to adjourn the meeting. The suspension of the standing orders was agreed by all the members.
The Mayor then proposed the adjournment motion as a mark of respect to and support for Cllr. McMahon Jones and her family, upon the tragic and untimely death of her son, Tommie.
The members in turn offered expressions of support and unity with Cllr. McMahon Jones in the event of the loss she and her family had suffered. Cllr. Prendeville conveyed the support and sympathy of the Clare County Council members and officials, who had also passed a vote of sympathy to Cllr. McMahon Jones and her family.
Cllr. McMahon Jones thanked the members of Kilrush Town Council and Clare County Council and the staff and management of Kilrush Civic Offices for their support and sympathy. Cllr. McMahon Jones also thanked Cllr. Culligan and Senator Madeline Taylor Quinn for their ongoing support.
Cllr. McMahon Jones read a reflection then, that would capture very aptly in all likelihood, the situation from the perspective of Tommie. The members were moved by the aptness of the reflection and all present said Our Lord’s Prayer.
Finally, a date for the adjourned meeting was set as Wednesday, September 20th at 4:00 p.m. in the Town Hall.
